Hairston-Gallant Scholarship Application Guidelines:
PURPOSE
To provide educational funds to a student who has shown an interest in promoting the continuum of the National Hairston-Gallant Reunion.
AWARD
One recipient will be awarded $1,000.00 for full-time study. (Scholarship award will be deposited into student’s account.)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants to the Hairston-Gallant Scholarship Program must:
- Be a high school senior or graduate who has been accepted to a 2 or 4-year college, university, or technical/business school;
- Have a GPA of at least 3.0 or above;
- Provide a copy of recent transcript;
- Write an essay to include the following:
- Ancestry documentation
- High school data
- Name of postsecondary school you plan to attend. If unknown, please list in order of preference the schools to which you have applied (use official school names – no abbreviations).
- Description of any work experience (e.g. food server, babysitting, lawn mowing, office work).
- List of activities you participated in during the Hairston-Gallant Family Reunions locally and nationally. Also, list school and community activities with notation of any awards, honors and offices held.
- A brief statement of your plans/goals as they relate to your future.
- Explain how being a part of the Hairston-Gallant family has affected your life.
- Provide two letters of reference, one from a teacher and one from someone in the community (no family), i.e. pastor or employer.
